Lazer Spot is committed to environmentally friendly technologies and processes. We are a member of the SmartWaySM Transport Partnership, an innovative collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the freight industry, designed to increase energy efficiency while significantly reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution. Lazer Spot will contribute to the Partnership’s goal to reduce 33 to 66 million metric tons of carbon dioxideand up to 200,000 tons of nitrogen oxide per year by 2012 by improving the environmental performance of our freight operations.
As part of our SmartWaySM program, Lazer Spot uses Bio-diesel in its spotters where available and feasible. Drivers are required to adhere to a strict idling policy and help monitor our facilities for over the road drivers that might be idling. In addition, Lazer Spot has a fleet of 9 hybrid SUVs (Ford Escapes and Mercury Mariners) which are driven by our corporate and regional management.
Lazer Spot recently took delivery of its first hybrid spotter, the Capacity PHETT. As such, Lazer Spot is one of the first companies to operate and use this technology in an actual work environment. Lazer Spot looks forward to leading its industry and continuing its “green” efforts in the years to come.
