What is yard management?


Sometimes referred to as shunting, spotting, hostling, jockeying, etc., yard management is the process whereby distribution/manufacturing facilities efficiently manage the storage and movement of its rolling inventory.

Yard Management is NOT: Spotting trailers or a drop trailer program; instead, it is an extension of the facility's inventory and overall transportation strategy.
